In addition, the book illustrates other approaches to laboratory pollution prevention, such as reducing wastewater discharges and fume hood emissions. A wide range of waste types, including hazardous, infectious, medical, PCB, and radioactive, are discussed.



Fume hood - A fume hood or fume cupboard is a large piece of scientific equipment common to chemistry laboratories designed to limit a person's exposure to hazardous fumes. Fume hoods were originally manufactured from timber, but now epoxy coated mild steel is the main construction material.
